Statement from C. Thomas Cook on Joint Finance Committee Funding Appropriation

This week, the State of Delaware’s Joint Finance Committee drafted its recommended operating budget for the next fiscal year. Among the notable milestones was the approval of $4.67 million in funding for services supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Ability Network of Delaware Executive Director C. Thomas Cook expressed his appreciation to Governor Carney and members of the JFC.

“We’ve generated a lot of momentum for people with disabilities this year and we want to thank Governor Carney and the Joint Finance Committee for recognizing the importance of this issue,” said Mr. Cook. “With the agreement to update the 2014 [Market Rate] study, the Governor and JFC took a step in the right direction. We remain hopeful funding will improve and we will keep advocating for this vital issue.”
