Workforce in Crisis: Chronic Underfunding Puts Disability Services at a Tipping Point

Melinda South, the Delaware executive director for KenCrest and Board President for the Ability Network of Delaware (A.N.D.), shares her thoughts on the workforce crisis Delaware’s intellectual and developmental disability service providers currently face.

“Without fully funding the I/DD services system, Delaware’s disability providers won’t be able to hire, train, or retain direct care workers. Many will continue to leave the field for higher paying jobs, especially as the minimum wage continues to increase.”
